Procrastination, Disney, and Mental Asylums

Well, the title basically says it all.

I am still sick, the doctor is saying I have chronic fatigue, which honestly sucks! So I really have been trying to find energy, not mentally, but physically, to type another blog. As for my current playlist, I am listening to The Hunchback of Notre Dame OST, which makes me feel very intense and meaningful!

Whilst procrastinating I had to attempt some assignments, and during my research I stumbled across a blog about a team who travel the world looking at random things and they just so happened to come across an old orphanage/youth mental asylum from the 70's(ish). Other than the fact that this was the most intense scary true story blog I have perhaps ever read, it inspired me to research the topic more.

I found out a lot about these asylums, each a little story behind them. I found that most children and youth sent there had nothing wrong with them, most children sent there were orphans and had nowhere else to go. This freaky reality of what used to happen to these children haunted me quiet a bit. The over packed rooms mixed with the lack of staff meant that children did not receive the attention that the needed, which made them develop psychological issues and sometimes health. The way the children were treated varied from different types of abuse to medical treatments like restraining patients for days or weeks at a time, lobotomy, and over use of drugs. If they didn't go with any problems, they definitely left with them. I felt this was a very creepy and disturbing issue, but the pictures seemed to complete the whole image. Often the hospitals/asylums where just abandoned with toys, furniture, and paperwork left where it was last put.

So the past haunted me a little.......
But then I found out it was still around......

Yep, mental asylums/hospitals (whatever you want to call it) are still leaving patients in these conditions, I am definitely not pointing fingers at countries or health officials specifically, but you would think that this horrid treatment would no longer exist! Some countries cannot help this issue, the lack of health funding, others still recovering from WW2 (believe it or not), other governments just aren't aware or the conditions because the institutes have been forgotten over time. If you google or youtube it, it is easy to see modern day asylums that are bad.

Having said that, not all asylums/hospitals are bad, there are many that are perfectly equips and help many people successfully and healthily. :D (Yay!)

But after that not so nice reality, a little procrastination, and very intense music!
I believe that is it, so until next time,
Bye :)

Shout out to my sister who is currently sick, get better! Wish you went to a closer uni so you could live at home ! :D xx

How I love blogging on my computer ! Then I can add pictures ! Sorry I have lost the link to the other blog

Culture and Movies ?

It's funny how language translations turn out.
Sitting in line for a blood test today, there was a boy and his mother from India. The boy was also waiting in line for a blood test I believe, but anyway he was begging his mother not to let him have something that was waiting for him in the very air conditioned little room. The boy seemed to think we were also in a hospital. Being in a doctors surgery, I found this very amusing, the poor boy seemed to think it was the end of the world. That this doctors surgery was something to be feared.  Makes me curious to see what the little boys experiences are in India to be so scared to be at the doctors, but until I see a doctor in India, I will never know. However I hope the boys experiences were nicer than his expectations.... :)

Currently I am watching "The Last Sumuri"

I love this movie, it shows culture in a beautiful way, showing how other influences such as western culture affected it. There are quiet a few movies like this, and others that describe how traditions were performed etc. But really when you look at movies such as these there are three levels of, not realism, but a type of production, that allows the viewer two understand a culture.

Level one is like watching this movie. Everything is understandable, the violence displayed is acceptable (in a way) to watch. By the age of 14 what person hasn't seen someone die in a movie. Everything else displayed shows beauty in some form, and a display of something romantic, in nature, the buildings, with the people in it. It is all very easy to follow the storyline and accept what is happening.

Then there is level two. This has more realism to it, but it still displayed in such a way it is easy to follow. "Slumdog Millionaire" is a good example of this. Things that happen shock the viewer, yet it's all mixed around a story that people accept. Level two movies seem to be put aside to be watched later when people want a dash of hard culture and romance.

Then there is the level three movies. These movies leave shocking feelings or emotions. The movie is shown in an easy to view manner at first but is littered with truth and realization. These movies are very well directed, and are liked and hated at the same time. These movies are like the movie "The Boy in Striped Pyjamas" .

Other movies are scattered in between such as "The Kite Runner" ect. Often I find that reading the novel beforehand can show more of what is happening, give a full picture. But no matter what, a movie will always alter your perceptions thanks to music, seeing facial emotions, and watching body language. Either or, these movies all show something more to those who are not from that culture. For me it is easier to watch a movies and understand what is going on if I have experienced the culture myself, however there is always something new to learn. :)

I guess that is all for now, just a random note :3
Please excuse all grammar and spelling errors, once again I find myself typing on my iPad, and with typing too much I can't scroll :(

Till next time ;)

Super Simple Stuff :)

It's rather strange the world we live in. People hurry everywhere, all going about their own buisness, worrying about tomorrow. It all makes you wonder, what if someone stopped and looked at the bigger picture?

I grew up moving a lot, moving houses, schools, countries, and I find that ever culture has something never going on. One day you may be walking down a street and see a charity, like the salvation army, selling something to help someone in need. To me these are real thinkers, they have stopped fussing and realized some work is more important than others. I'm not degrading jobs, just so you know, earning a living is a very important thing to do, it's just are you doing something you love?

Now let's talk about God. It doesn't matter if you believe or not, because the art of being human is to have an imagination. So let's say there is God. Don't you think he would have created humans to be beautiful and help each other? Please, no comments about religion or being ugly, beauty comes in different forms.

I never intended my first blog to be on working, but I'm going to run with it. It's almost two in the morning and being sick tends to keep you up. Ehhh, I'm out from 10am to 1030pm, today, technically, but my mind and body aren't quiet connecting the two.

So anyway....

Back to jobs......

Do you enjoy your job? Is it worth it? Now I'm not talking about those jobs you have after school, or the ones that are paying off/going to pay off uni fees or other forms of study, I'm talking about full time jobs. From my experience and understanding, if you don't like your job, it's generally very obvious to the people around you, same goes for anything really. I mean seriously, have you seen the look on a toddlers face when they don't want to be somewhere! Its a classic !

Random rant time:
I dislike it a lot when children run around supermarkets......

And yet again.... Back to the subject :D

So yes, if you don't like your job, improve on it! Get some education or something, find a passion in you and follow it! You will see mine unfold during my blogging :)

So these real people I was talking about.... This year I desided to take a step back and observe, just for a day. Behind all the economic crisiss's, and global warming stuff, there are a lot more issues closer to home. I find people like to wrap their selves up, bundled into their own world, where everything is ok, they have a house, food, clothes...... It's ok, isnt it? But what about the people who don't have those things? Or even, have those things but are not in the right state of mind to be happy, or can't be happy because they get hit over the head every night? Who cares about them?

Youth workers...
Vulenteers.....

People who equip themselves to help. I know a few youth workers, and the stories you hear aren't great. I can be talking to a friend and know that in their neighborhood kids have been revoved from homes, their is at least one youth walking the streets because they cant sleep anywhere. It's sad to hear, to see....

If I could have a job, and had all the qualifications, I'd be a youth worker, one to help people off the streets, give them hope, help them with a future. But it takes someone who cares, to help.

All jobs are important, people even put them in ranks of importance, few think of things like youth work.. Your friends, your children, are put into these ranks too. Let's just say everything is ranked in the human mind. So where do you rank other people? People you don't know? At the bottom? In the middle? At the top?

Those childhood sayings come to mind, the ones about treating others how you want to be treated. Genuine respect has more love in it than forced.

I know I have tackled such a large issue, about helping people, and I really did make it complicated. Because believe it or not, you don't have to study at some uni to help someone. Simply smiling or saying hello might help someone.... It's super simple stuff like that, that help people.

So now it's two forty, and I think I have managed to kill my brain more than yours, wish you all a good night/morning/afternoon,

Until next time, for another crazy random blog :)

Ps... I'm not usually this rantful :P oh and somewhere up there I typed the word never, I believe it's meant to be now... iPad won't let me scroll... I've typed too much ;D
