Culture and Movies ?

It's funny how language translations turn out.
Sitting in line for a blood test today, there was a boy and his mother from India. The boy was also waiting in line for a blood test I believe, but anyway he was begging his mother not to let him have something that was waiting for him in the very air conditioned little room. The boy seemed to think we were also in a hospital. Being in a doctors surgery, I found this very amusing, the poor boy seemed to think it was the end of the world. That this doctors surgery was something to be feared.  Makes me curious to see what the little boys experiences are in India to be so scared to be at the doctors, but until I see a doctor in India, I will never know. However I hope the boys experiences were nicer than his expectations.... :)

Currently I am watching "The Last Sumuri"

I love this movie, it shows culture in a beautiful way, showing how other influences such as western culture affected it. There are quiet a few movies like this, and others that describe how traditions were performed etc. But really when you look at movies such as these there are three levels of, not realism, but a type of production, that allows the viewer two understand a culture.

Level one is like watching this movie. Everything is understandable, the violence displayed is acceptable (in a way) to watch. By the age of 14 what person hasn't seen someone die in a movie. Everything else displayed shows beauty in some form, and a display of something romantic, in nature, the buildings, with the people in it. It is all very easy to follow the storyline and accept what is happening.

Then there is level two. This has more realism to it, but it still displayed in such a way it is easy to follow. "Slumdog Millionaire" is a good example of this. Things that happen shock the viewer, yet it's all mixed around a story that people accept. Level two movies seem to be put aside to be watched later when people want a dash of hard culture and romance.

Then there is the level three movies. These movies leave shocking feelings or emotions. The movie is shown in an easy to view manner at first but is littered with truth and realization. These movies are very well directed, and are liked and hated at the same time. These movies are like the movie "The Boy in Striped Pyjamas" .

Other movies are scattered in between such as "The Kite Runner" ect. Often I find that reading the novel beforehand can show more of what is happening, give a full picture. But no matter what, a movie will always alter your perceptions thanks to music, seeing facial emotions, and watching body language. Either or, these movies all show something more to those who are not from that culture. For me it is easier to watch a movies and understand what is going on if I have experienced the culture myself, however there is always something new to learn. :)

I guess that is all for now, just a random note :3
Please excuse all grammar and spelling errors, once again I find myself typing on my iPad, and with typing too much I can't scroll :(

Till next time ;)
